Our History and Values
Noviha started in 1981 as a welfare organisation to support its members in times of hardship.. Our Vision is to be an enterprising social organisation running services and providing support that will make our communities’ lives better than they are today. Our Values shape what we do, how we do it and why. We will act with integrity; promote equality and diversity, prioritising those in greatest need and take pride in our culture, ethos and heritage. Noviha's mission is to relieve poverty, promote well-being, advocate self-reliance and create a sense of belonging for Ewes, their families and friends in the UK and Ghana.
Sponsored Walks is an annual health and fundraising event for members their families and supporters of Noviha's causes. This year 2015, the members walked criss crossing ten of most beautiful bridges covering over 15 kilometers. The sponsored walks tend to be one of the most effective methods of fundraising for Noviha. It enables members, friends and family to walk a distance of between 10-15 miles and give many the opportunity to truly enjoy the beautiful scenery of London and an opportunity to promote our social inclusive programme. The Sponsored Walks have proved to be very popular with the members and the organisers. The fundsraised for the previous years walks were earmarked for supporting premature baby care at Keta Hospital in Ghana. The donation of the vital life saving equipment purchased for the hospital and was donated to the Keta Hospital in January 2012 in Ghana.
The annual Noviha Thanksgiving Harvest for 2016 will take place on 14th May 2016 at the Walworth Methodist Church. This is another opportunity for members, donors and funders to join Noviha members in giving thanks as well as raisefunds for Noviha charitable causes. Members are encouraged to bring garments, fruits, and electronic equipment to be sold. Any monies realised form the event are donated to Premature Babies Care units in Ghana.
Noviha recognises the importance education esecially early childhood education. Noviha has collected and donated many children’s books and toys to a number of centres including the Dedzidi Early Childhood Development Centre at Anloga. Education is the root out of poverty and Noviha remains committed in doing its part to promote this agenda. These are projects we hope individual benefactors can take up and use our platform to support.
